In the Spring 2024 edition of the Navy SEAL Foundation newsletter, we delve into the diverse initiatives, impactful events, and partners that continue to bolster the NSW community. On Wednesday, November 8, we celebrated the grand opening of our West Coast Warrior Fitness Program facility! Over 200 supporters, including NSW leadership, service members, spouses, veterans, and Gold Star and Surviving Families, joined us in celebration.
The summer began with our annual camps where NSW children engage in various activities to foster teamwork, build self-confidence, nurture resilience, create camaraderie, and develop leadership abilities. It’s incredible to witness these young campers’ growth and transformation throughout their time with us.
The Navy SEAL Foundation (NSF) is here to support the NSW community in times of grief. That includes helping the families and teammates left behind. In the last eighteen months, Naval Special Warfare Development Group commands have experienced multiple losses. As a result, NSF recently supported a day of resilience counseling and training for the members of these units to help them through this difficult period.

The Navy SEAL Foundation (NSF) is pleased to announce the launch of the TEAMWORK Fitness Challenge, a new athletic fundraising event inspired by the Navy SEAL Physical Screening Test (PST). The challenge will include pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, and a three-mile timed run and participants can join in from anywhere around the world. Last week, the Navy SEAL Foundation hosted its 9th Annual Midwest Evening of Tribute. Donors from more than 26 states and Puerto Rico showed their support for the benevolent organization and contributed over $3.2 million to sustain its programs. The live-streamed event, which has always been a cornerstone of the organization’s fundraising efforts, was held in Chicago and included a limited number of on-site attendees following state and local ordinances. The event’s virtual audience was tuned in from across the globe and included active-duty Naval Special Warfare (NSW) community members and NSW Gold Star and Surviving Family members.

On Saturday, May 16, MISSION BBQ presented the Navy SEAL Foundation with their annual American Heroes Cup donation in the amount of $69,210!! This donation was made possible by the generous support of their customers throughout the Hampton Roads area in Virginia. MISSION BBQ donates $2 from the purchase of each cup to NSF and this year, Phil Boyer, Regional Director of Operations with MISSION BBQ presented the donation to Sara Berry, Director of Marketing and Communications for NSF.
Although NSF is adjusting to the effects of COVID-19 like the rest of the nation, it does not stop or hinder our passion, commitment or ability to support the NSW community. NSW’s mission continues, and so does ours!
For the ninth year in a row, non-profit evaluator Charity Navigator has awarded Navy SEAL Foundation their coveted four-star rating! Charity Navigator bases its ratings on non-profits’ financial health and their commitment to accountability and transparency. This year, NSF also received our 5th consecutive perfect 100 score which places us in the top 1% of all charities evaluated!
Huge thanks to everyone who participated and supported this year’s Tampa Bay Frogman Swim, held January 12th! This year’s event included 175 swimmers, 185 kayakers, 80 volunteers and close to 300 spectators! TBFS also hosted nearly 50 Gold Star and Surviving Family members as honored guests.
2020 marks our 20th year of support for the Naval Special Warfare community and its families and in that time we’ve invested over $200 million in programs benefiting SEALs, SWCCs, NSW enablers, their families and our SEAL and SWCC veterans. We could not do what we do without the generous support of our donors, partners, and leadership.
In October, the Navy SEAL Foundation held its 4th annual Whole Warrior Health Impact Forum. Attendees of this event engaged in a complex narrative on the topic of suicide. Leading experts in their respective fields shared the most relevant, cutting edge, education and practices regarding issues that affect the Naval Special Warfare community and the military at large.
As part of its comprehensive care for the surviving family members of NSW’s fallen, the Navy SEAL Foundation brings together surviving siblings each year at its Sibling Wellness Weekend.
On September 4th, hundreds of patriots, executives, and heroes filled the Hilton Ballroom at 720 S. Michigan Avenue as friends and supporters of the Navy SEAL Foundation assembled for the 2019 Midwest Evening of Tribute.
On Thursday, August 8th, hundreds of Denver’s most patriotic citizens, including local and state executives and dignitaries, gathered at Centennial Airport’s Modern Aviation for the Navy SEAL Foundation’s 8th Annual Denver Evening of Tribute.
The Navy SEAL Foundation understands the significance of finding meaningful employment once an operator leaves the active-duty community and generously funds several transition programs to equip and empower the operator well before his/her transition starts. Whether it’s a two-day educational workshop or a multi-week, comprehensive curriculum, the Navy SEAL Foundation stands ready to support our community before, during and following their transition.
We are so excited to share that global fitness brand, Reebok, and the Navy SEAL Foundation have entered into an official partnership to support the Naval Special Warfare community. Reebok is now the Official Human Performance Partner of NSF and will support the community we serve during key holidays and with other promotions throughout 2019 and 2020.
On May 15th, 2019, staff from our East Coast office visited the Mission BBQ Virginia Beach location for MISSION’s annual donation check presentation ceremony. Since 2016, MISSION BBQ has been a proud supporter of NSF — helping to raise vital funds through its American Heroes Cup program, donating $2 of every purchase to NSF.
The Fourth Biennial Palm Beach Evening of Tribute benefiting the Navy SEAL Foundation and the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, was held on April 1, 2019. The event, hosted by Kie Cundey, Ann Heathwood, Elliot Hershberg, Molly Slattery, Marjorie McCloskey O’Neil, Nancy Wildrick, Rebecca Williams and Jane Woodman raised over $1.5 million in support of SEALs and the Naval Special Warfare community.
On March 6th, while in NYC for the 2019 Benefit, NSF closed the markets by Ringing the Closing Bell at Nasdaq! Foundation board members, ambassadors, and staff participated in the live ceremony in the heart of NYC–Times Square! Thank you to Nasdaq for sharing the Foundation’s work with a live audience of millions!
We are so excited to share that the NSF has once again received a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-referenced independent evaluator of national charities. In addition, NSF scored a perfect 100 on the charitable watchdog’s ranking system for the fourth year in a row.

While attached to Task Unit Bruiser in Ramadi, Iraq in 2006, a sniper’s bullet struck SO2 Ryan Job’s rifle. Pieces of the shattered weapon tore through his face, destroying one eye and severing the optic nerves of the other. Job died several years later following complications of facial reconstructive surgery. The Navy SEAL Foundation was honored to support the presentation of a replica of Job’s shadow box that hangs in the SEAL Team THREE classroom, along with an engraved knife and a wooden American flag with over 130 Tridents tacked to the flag, to his surviving family.

Valhalla’s Forge is a company like no other. Run by retired Navy SEAL Jimmy Hintzke, the business specializes in custom metal and woodwork and has been doing so for over 20 years. When I say “custom” metal and woodwork, I mean CUSTOM stuff. This is not some run-of-the-mill plaque shop where you get the latest Employee of the Month Award engraved or your men’s softball league trophy made. This is something far, far different, better, and more badass.
On September 19, the Navy SEAL Foundation celebrated the establishment of our new west coast location with a grand opening event. The official ribbon cutting ceremony and community open house were attended by many of our closest friends in Coronado, local dignitaries, military leaders, and community members. The office is centrally located in downtown Coronado off B Avenue, and it serves as a resource center for SEALs and NSW personnel on the west coast.

Through our Veteran Crisis Assistance Program, NSF provides crucial resources, tragedy assistance funds, and transition support to NSW veterans in need. We work to quickly respond to the needs of our NSW veteran families, ensuring those who have served with dignity and honor have the resources they need to face life’s challenges.

This month the Navy SEAL Foundation supported 17 requests under our Warrior & Family Support pillar. In one case, the infant of an active-duty SEAL experienced significant complications following birth, and because of these complications they now require around-the-clock care and attention.
The Foundation provides a range of programs and services to those warriors and families who have sustained injuries, illnesses or catastrophic loss during, or because of, their Naval Special Warfare (NSW) service.
This month, NSF supported 56 wounded, ill and injured requests (32 SEAL, 5 SWCC, 10 Support and 9 Retired) which included logistical family support, necessary rehabilitation equipment, veteran medical support for combat sustained injuries, casualty checks,

November 6-7, the Navy SEAL Foundation hosted over 500 medical professionals, Naval Special Warfare (NSW) community members, caregivers and thought leaders at our 2ndAnnual Impact Forum, held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.

Hundreds gathered on July 20th at the Virginia Beach ocean front to witness the dedication of the country’s newest Navy SEAL Monument. The project, featuring the “Naked Warrior” statue and sand from places all around the world where SEALs have served, was spearheaded by Rick Woolard, a retired SEAL Captain.
There’s no question about it; summer is a busy time at the Navy SEAL Foundation! Between our seven specialized summer camps for Naval Special Warfare (NSW) kids and teens, our annual family support activities, the myriad of fundraising events, and our day-to-day operations we are surrounded by a constant buzz of activity.
