We are incredibly honored to share that retired Navy Rear Admiral Brian Hendrickson has joined the Navy SEAL Foundation Board of Advisors.
Rear Admiral Hendrickson retired from the U.S. Navy in September of 2019 after 32 years of service. He received his commission from the United States Naval Academy in May 1987 and after a tour as a division officer aboard the USS Aquila (PHM-4), he transferred to Naval Special Warfare (NSW) and completed Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training in 1990.
Rear Admiral Hendrickson’s tours in NSW include assignments to SEAL Team 1, SEAL Team 3, Naval Special Warfare Support Activity 1, Naval Special Warfare Unit 4, Naval Special Warfare Group 1, Naval Special Warfare Group 10 and Naval Special Warfare Command. Joint assignments include the United States Military Group Colombia, Joint Special Operations Task Force (JSOTF)-Horn of Africa, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force (CJSOTF)-Arabian Peninsula, CJSOTF-Afghanistan, JSOTF-Philippines and United States Special Operations Command. His service overseas includes Operations Restore Hope, Desert Shield, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
His flag officer assignments included assistant vice commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command; founding military director of the Defense Innovation Unit Experimental; deputy commander of the Naval Special Warfare Command; director Theater Engagement (J7) U.S. Southern Command and the founding director of the U.S. Southern Command’s transnational threat directorate – the Network Engagement Team.
Rear Admiral Hendrickson is an advisor to several start-up companies and the venture capital firm 8VC. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Global SOF Foundation’s Advisory Council. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Naval Academy and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University.
