Providing Scholarships & Development Opportunities

ABOUT

Inside the Navy SEAL community, school and development opportunities can be a challenge. This is true for both warriors and families. Programs under our Education Pillar empower active duty NSW personnel, their spouses and children, as well as our SEAL and SWCC veterans and their children, by awarding scholarships for higher education. We also support quality education options for dependent children in geographically separated duty locations where choices matter to the overall success of the student.

Additionally, NSF provides funding for standardized college entrance exams for qualified transitioning NSW service members. All this support augments funding accessible through Navy programs and provides additional financial resources not otherwise available. The Navy SEAL Foundation is committed to the education of our warriors, families, and veterans.

*These programs are supported by the Ken Griffin Navy SEAL Foundation Education and Children's Initiative.

What NSF Covers

  • Private School Tuition
  • Supplemental Tutoring
  • Homeschool Scholarships

Pre-K Private School Scholarships: Award amounts are 50% of the annual tuition up to a maximum amount of $4,000 per school year, per child. The child must be old enough to attend Kindergarten within their respective state the following school year.

Kindergarten-12th-grade Private School Scholarships: Award amounts are 70% of the annual tuition up to a maximum amount of $7,000 per school year, per child.

When your application is submitted in full, it will be reviewed and approved by the Foundation’s Programs team. The Navy SEAL Foundation evaluates all applications based on eligibility. Once the application is approved and all follow-up paperwork is received, Private School Scholarship funding is paid directly to the school before the commencement of the Fall semester.

If you already receive financial aid for your child, you may want to ensure that receipt of this scholarship does not affect the awarded amount from the school. You will need to upload a tuition statement from the school that shows the annual tuition amount. Scholarship funding covers tuition only; it does not cover associated costs for uniforms, books, school fees, etc.

Supplemental Tutoring Scholarships: Award amounts for 50% coverage of tutoring expenses up to a maximum amount of $2,500 per calendar year, per child. Applications for tutoring coverage are open year round. However, a new application must be submitted every calendar year for review and approval.

Kindergarten-12th Grade Homeschool Scholarships: Award amounts are 50% reimbursement of the approved expenses related to curriculum, annual testing and membership for professional homeschooling organizations up to a maximum amount of $2,500 per academic year, per child.

Homeschool Scholarship reimbursements are paid directly to the Homeschool provider once an application is submitted (with payment receipts), reviewed, and approved. The Navy SEAL Foundation evaluates all applications based on eligibility.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Navy SEAL Foundation Executive Board and Scholarship Committee for awarding me such a generous scholarship. I am truly honored and humbled to receive such substantial support from the SEAL Community. I appreciate it not only as a source of support but a strong affirmation of the strong bonds of brotherhood and care for families that my dad often talks about.

Good morning, and thank you so much for the scholarship award my son received! It was truly welcome news. While in uniform, the Navy SEAL Foundation has done wonderful things for the NSW family. In good times, your team was there. In bad times, your team was always there. An amazing organization, and we are so lucky to have this partnership.
